Have fun with eight star martial arts red dragon karate

Parents may arrive 15-30 minutes early to set up.  

Parties are 2 hours long and include:

• 45 minute age-appropriate Karate class (see themes below)*
• A white belt and a 2-week pass to Karate classes for each party participant
• An ESMA/RDKS t-shirt for the birthday  girl/boy
• Martial arts games and wind-down exercises  

Note:

• All participants need to go barefoot or wear nonslip socks on the mats
• A liability waiver for each party participant must be signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to being allowed on the mats. No exceptions — no waiver, no participation on the mats.
• Parents provide all food, drink, cups, utensils, etc. (the pizza shop in our plaza delivers)
• We provide garbage bags and receptacles
• No food or drink in training area 

The basics. (our most popular)

The focus is on blocking, striking, and kicking. Participants will be introduced to a variety of training gear (foam blockers, hand pads, focus targets, kicking shields, and kicking bags) and instructed how to use them safely. 

Rough and tumble. 

The focus is on balance games, break falls, rolling and tumbling…and throwing stars. Participants will use a variety of training gear (tumbling mats, balance beam, pool noodles, foam ninja stars, etc.) to safely improve balance and coordination through play.

Donny is smart, Leo plays by the rules, Raph is independent, and Mikey just wants everyone to have fun. 

The focus of this class is on learning to use martial arts weapons by being smart, following the rules, working independently, and having fun! Participants will learn about each of the turtles’ weapons (bo, sword, nunchaku, and sai) and be allowed to hold real examples of each. Plenty of time will be devoted to playing safely with basic bo and nunchaku techniques.

Martial arts animals.

The focus of this class is on animals and their different energies. Participants will explore movement as they play with various Kung Fu animal movements, such as — 

crane, bear, monkey, deer, tiger, snake, turtle and dragon from Qigong; 

crane, snake, monkey, horse, and rooster from Tai Chi Chuan; 

tiger, horse, and wildcat from Hsing-I-Chuan; 

crane, tiger, panther, Komodo dragon, eagle, monkey, and rhinoceros from Pentjak Silat.

Our style. 

The focus of this class is on what makes our style different from regular Karate or Taekwondo. Participants will play with our low stances and animal movements, learn to spin and strike, and learn about defending themselves from the ground. Lots of blocking, punching, and kicking.
